Towing is broken in the latest update but Sunday Driver has always made towing difficult to impossible. Pacifist. This list will show you my personal favorites and make you think of some traits you didnt consider before. Expensive for what it is, but it gives cars extra storage space which is occasionally very useful. But keep in mind that you will need to deal with this trait's adverse side effects for the early portion of your game, which islow endurance and endurance regeneration. Prone to illness makes you more likely to get a cold but outdoorsman makes you less likely to get and cold and you're something like 90% less likely to get scratched on a tree which also covers thin skinned. If you want to fish to survive this is a must have for the 75% XP boost, if not don't take the perk lol. And disease can be avoided by spacing out crops. Useful skill, but its hard to justify spending 5 points on this. My attempt at a meta build had underweight and athletic in the same build; like you said the massive benefit kicks in at 9. And when You have 9 fitness it's not going to cause any problems, so probably even 4/5 if you have 9 fitness. Everything in this skill is either learned quickly through the foraging skill, or through a fairly easy to find magazine. The only real issue would be sleeping but you can just choose a base with a big enough room to place a bed in. Athletic has an edge over strong, as exhaustion is a killer. One of the best traits frequently recommended by the Project Zomboid community is Short-Sighted. This will get you killed. But that being said, if you want a character that is going to survive for a very long time, this doesnt really matter. Will hurt your stealth a bit, but not too much. Not bad per se, just not worth the points. And do they have any negatives that stick forever? I wouldn't say its a must have, but if you have 6 points to spare its worth considering. Just carry 2 filled bottles around with you and you wont notice this trait. It might even be less than 1 per second. If you manage to level up your fitness level a couple of points you wont see the effect of these traits at all. For that reason, here is a list on the 10 best negative traits that you can get on your character in Build 41. if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[728,90],'setreadygame_com-medrectangle-3','ezslot_7',112,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-medrectangle-3-0'); Advertisementsif(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[336,280],'setreadygame_com-large-mobile-banner-2','ezslot_6',154,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-large-mobile-banner-2-0');As you need a good balance between points spent and actual hardships of your character, the list will generally try to find a good balance between play-ability and points saved for good traits. Absolute garbage because of how it works. I disagree with the Sunday Driver for one huge reason. This one may be a no-go for you and I can understand that. The critical chance of attacks is capped between 10% and 90%. In short, when you get injured, just avoid combat and take it easy for a few days and let your wounds heal. Panic while performing first aid isnt really an issue. Description: Stress and unhappiness decrease after smoking tobacco. This in turn will help your character not to get panicked as quickly. But let me convince you why pacifist is a good choice. How do Project Zomboid traits work, exactly? Outdoorsman: I never take it. 25% slower xp gain with weapons. By using the aforementioned exercise system and making sure youre only eating your greens, you can shed off some kilos easily after picking this perk. Stress from being bloody is annoying and can be an issue unless you have a lot of water collectors or are set up by a river. No brainer. Underweight - 6 points. Organized increases the storage capacity of all containers so its a little more useful than youre giving it credit for but I agree that its expensive. Maybe 5/5 Simply because it's the only trait that gives nimble. It might make sense for Smoker to eventually be possible to get rid of, but it looks like it's permanent for now (maybe it represents those people who can never truly ditch the addiction, and not just anyone who's addicted). Tailoring is a massively overlooked skill and starting XP boosts to tailoring are few and far between. Both fitness and strength are very hard to level up. Smokes have always been pretty easy to find in Project Zomboid. I went with light eater just because I figured it'd be fewer distractions, but as a result I've found I have to overeat anyway to maintain calories. Too expensive take hiker instead. I also play with insane population so you would think inconspicuous would be useful but its actually more helpful to let zombies be able to notice you from a greater distance. Significantly defeats the purpose of using vehicles. This trait is pretty good for exactly the same reasons as underweight. Most persist. The extra speed will often cause you to crash and badly injure yourself, even with cruise control. Just fast forward time. Most persist. Axe and long blunt boosted, 2 great weapon choices. Again you probably don't know how detection works in the game. The best traits in Project Zomboid are Short Sighted, High Thirst and Weak Stomach, they are examples of traits that cause little to no inconvenience and or are easy to fix. Understandably it can be annoying that you cant perform first aid on any others if youre playing multiplayer but as long as one of your friends is decent at first aid you can always have them patch you up. The reason is because the penalty is given to you from being overweight, and not picking the trait itself. Provides a 30% XP boost on top of existing boosts to ALL skills. Traits Traits are attributes or behaviors that effect how your character interacts with the world. Maintenance is great though. It's entirely unnecessary. Yes good call with the Thin-skinned. This Negative trait can also be mitigated by simply ensuring you cook your food correctly in Project Zomboid. Because of this, it's an easy +2 point that can go towards a decent positive trait. It doesn't just make noises louder for you, but specifically gives you eyes at the back of your head (short range). Fitness is essential if you enjoy living. Same thing with under/overweight. A great one to take with pacifist is Fast Learner as it will end up in a net positive multiplier for weapons. More experienced players may find the points spent better elsewhere instead. You can just eat more or less and eventually it will be free points. The major reason obese is considered bad (though I usually take it anyways) is because it reduces your fitness. Sleepyhead 1/5. Its also very cheap considering the bonus. Foraging will keep you well fed thru summer and trapping will keep you fed thru winter. It doesn't really change anything as reading in Project Zomboid is already slow at normal speed. This is a real challenge to start with and a pain in the ass to raise your fitness. Just confirming what you stated about keen hearing. Don't take it if you're planning on using an axe as a main weapon. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. the new exercise system introduced into the Build 41 version of the game, 10 best traits to take in Project Zomboid, How to Forage in Project Zomboid Build 41.60 (Search Mode), How to Stitch Wounds in Project Zomboid Build 41. ._3bX7W3J0lU78fp7cayvNxx{max-width:208px;text-align:center} It's something experienced players could consider, but even then I think it's mostly viable for longer range weapons like spears and long blunt, since I think less blood gets on the character. There's also an unlisted benefit that's hard to quantify but lets you literally hear zombies from behind you as if they were in front of you. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, The subreddit for Project Zomboid. I agree that dexterous is mandatory and I couldnt play without it. One decent trait for getting a couple of points back is of course slow reader. One tiny mistake and the character youve had for a few in-games weeks/months is gone and so are your skills. While the power is still working throughout the world you can get water from any kitchen or bathroom, after the power and water have been cut off of course you can boil water using a campfire to make it drinkable. Athletic 5; Strong 3. Nimble along with weapon proficiency and fitness is the key to taking on sizable groups effectively. First aid is useless. Some additional thoughts from me: Speed demon has an unlisted downside of making your engine rev WAY faster, and since engine noise is based on RPM this means that cars are WAY louder. Unless youre able to set yourself up well with vehicles, gas, weapons and meds before you die; youre going to have to do the early game grind all over again. Short Sighted only affects foraging radius and makes no difference to actual perception sight. I think speed demon also increases your gas consumption so thats yet another reason not to take it. Kinda boring to sit through, though. This list will show you my personal favorites and make you think of some traits you didn't consider before. When choosing traits for a character, remember any skill (other than fitness and strength gets a permanent XP bonus (1- 75% 2- 100% 3+ 125% to that skill, as well as extra level(s.)). If your character is lucky enough to live for a couple of months, claustrophobic will be completely gone. Waste of one point. That fire officer + underweight combo is pretty awesome. High Thirst (water is trivial unless you have month-long drought) Underweight (just gorge yourself on perishable food before the power goes out) Hemophobic (just wash your clothes) Smoker (this is a positive trait disguised as a negative one) Prone to Illness (free points; just don't sit out in the rain naked for hours) Then again it isnt the worst thing in the world to only be restricted to large houses at the start of the game. Runner: 3/5. Project. It makes getting bitten extremely easy. May be worth it if its something you personally struggle with, or if it fits your playstyle. One thing that I didnt take into account when making that list is the fact that to pick these positive traits, youre going to have to take some hits. (It has positive and negative traits in mind) Until next time, stay frosty survivors! They need to give it more features and make it much stronger. Probably gonna go back and alter some things. Sure, reading will be a bit slower that normal but when you can triple the speed of the game whenever you wish to skip the reading, it doesnt really matter. It is 99% the answer to all these posts. If anything the two numbers should be swapped, but as knowing how they work and having experience with the game, I'd put them more at like graceful 3 inconspicuous 2. It's actually difficult to keep weight on my character with how much I jog around, which as I've found with the Minimal Display Bars mod, burns a ton of calories. Late, but the thing with Short Sighted in this particular guide from OP is just that at the moment it's seemingly free points, so they don't personally use it. Traits are divided up into positive traits that cost points to have, and negative traits that give you points to spend. My opinions on each trait in the game I made in an ADHD fuelled frenzy. Conspicuous: 3/5. Basically anything you can put stuff in to. Stops you from reading skill books, massively reducing your skill XP gains. One of the best traits frequently recommended by the Project Zomboid community is Short-Sighted. Good with adrenaline junkie, but panic can really screw you over in combat. Points added: +2 Will have its effects lessened over a few months, though.
